Book review: Walden – Henry David Thoreau

Walden is a story of how the author (Henry David Thoreau) spent two year’s in virtual solitude in a self made cabin at near the shore of walden pond in Concord, Massachusettes. Thoreau takes the reader on an introspective journey through nature, self-discovery and the pursuit of a simpler and more meaningful life. His adventure is a classically american act of self-reliance and independence.
The book is sensitive and personal, and at the end I felt as I had achieved a deeper connection with myself and also the natural world.
A timeless book that encourages the reader to reflect on their own life and appreciate the simple beauty the natural world.

It’s Lenten season so this will be a Friday lunch staple
Did you know this is the only McDonald’s item with a steamed bun?

Idk tho it’s a really small sandwich I don’t remember it being this small, usually go here on Wendy’s. We’ll see where I go next Friday.

Some might say this is the behavior of a person who does not let go, even when it’s harder to hold on. I would not argue that, it is not very comfortable to write with these pencils but they still work and despite their dip in comfort, have virtually no dip in function.

I value persistence, resourcefulness over all things. I could throw this away, but I don’t give up that easy. I will find creative solutions when faced with difficulties. I could throw it away but I won’t give up even if you have become harder to use but still retain a working condition

This isn’t really about pencils, but these are three pencils on my desk and I am using them daily.

This is my family now
Also got this email today at 9:05 am today from the car dealership I got my current car from. Like first off my birthday was yesterday, and second off it’s bold to assume that you were the first person to wish me a happy birthday at 9:05 am. I did like most years get a birthday text at midnight like good friends will do.

My dad sent me this email.

There’s nothing else except his email signature. This was unexpected but also motivating to see first thing in the morning. He recently got a job and today posted it on his LinkedIn, and guess what I said…

Today and everyday is your day to seize, go get ‘em tiger.

Ceasar Salad

Honestly such a great meal that is cheap, good for you and most importantly delicious. I recently made it and will share the recipe so you can too.

INGREDIENTS:

3 hearts of romaine (pull away the floppiest, greenest outer leaves)

cup grated Pecorino Romano, plus additional cheese for serving

½ cup Hellmann’s mayonnaise

¼ cup water

1½ teaspoons red wine vinegar

1 garlic clove

2 anchovy filllets

¼ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

¼ teaspoon Tabasco

8 turns freshly ground white pepper

Fine sea salt, if needed

Freshly ground black pepper

INSTRUCTIONS:

Trim the root ends from the romaine, separate the leaves and wash and dry them. Place the lettuce in the fridge to chill while you prepare the dressing.

Combine ¼ cup of the Pecorino with the remaining ingredients (except the black pepper) in a blender and puree until the dressing is smooth. (If you don’t have a blender, mince the garlic and anchovy, then whisk them together with the rest of the dressing ingredients.) Taste and add salt if necessary; the cheese, mayonnaise, Worcestershire and anchovies are all salty, so you probably won’t need any additional salt. Add the ¼ cup of water to thin the dressing; add more water as needed.

First photo is just the salad and dressing in the second photo I added homemade croutons, bacon bits, boiled egg and shredded chicken breast, surprisingly I enjoyed the plain salad more. Hope you guys enjoy this simple recipe.
