I’m doing one page a day of a 500 page drawing book until it ends. I’m probably 100 or less days away at that rate. I almost slipped today but glad I stayed consistent. I got some help from a drawing I saw online but I can say I tried a new method for drawing trees that I’ve never tried before and I really like how it looks
oh I also went back and added a meal for the jellyfish.
I actually think I’ve improved slightly over one day. I really struggled to figure out rain puddles but chose the illustrate stepping on one, did some shoe details, and even used the space to try and work on depth I’ll probably watch some videos on the subject before I go to bed. I have lamb and wolf tomorrow. The wood block are from another project I’m working on, which will probably featured here at some point in 2023 hopefully.
The plan was initially to go paddle boarding, last minute change left me with no other option than to thug it out in slides. I was worried it would be awful, thankfully the hike wasn’t too rocky and I did okay. Slides might actually be good hiking shoes?
This book is a great resource for those looking to improve in chess. Why not learn from one of the greatest Bobby Fisher. In this book we see some good chess puzzles, while also looking at some of his most famous games. You will be improved as a chess player after reading this book.
Recently a new friend of mines invited me to go to horse tooth reservoir in Fort Collins Colorado. This was such a fun way to spend a Saturday on a long weekend. Really enjoyed it, hope to be back soon.
I’ve been in LA for my cousins bachelors party and we’ve been having a blast. As for the dolphins. What a game, I know there’s still a game tonight but this will likely be the game of the week. The video is a the group of my cousins bachelor party. The energy we had after the game was incredible and I really enjoyed the whole thing. I will say this though I was not exactly impressed with sofi stadium, I liked the ribbon tv thing they had going on but there was some minor and major issues, beginning with the minor the staff has no idea where anything is, we asked dozens of people and no one was able to tell us definitively where our seats were, another minor issue is in the bathroom I used it had a door that opens in, so someone coming in would push the door into someone coming out, bad design, get rid of the door also some of the sinks did not work. I do like some things about the stadium like the way it was built into the ground kinda like MSG in New York. The stadium was tall but the seating area was small still packed a lot of people but kept the area intimate and fun. Overall it was an amazing game and experience and I had some great days in LA. Hope to be back sometime soon.
With the start of the 2023 NFL football season just a day away I thought I’d mention something that’s come to my focus as of late.
It a bit strange to me that it’s been 53 years since the AFL-NFL merger but despite being the biggest sport the NFL is still the “american football league” NBA, MLB and even MLS have international (read canadian) teams.
NFL has been ramping up their international showings as of late with 5 scheduled games (3 in UK and 2 in Germany) so I’d wager its only a matter of time before the NFL gets an international team to join. A total win win for the leauge and which ever city is chosen, the only question is will it be a new team or a relocation of an existing team.
A few days ago I went to a poppy concert and wow, what a night of rock and roll.
The venue was the ogden theatre in denver CO. I’d never been to but it was really good, the audio was great, the stage design was good, and there was no bad seat in the house, really a cool venue and I will be looking to go again soon.
The opening act was PVRIS and although I wasn’t here for her or familiar with her music I thought she played good and had a good voice and stage presence. I wont say to much her other than she really did a nice job with stage design, had like a forest vibe. After the opening act there was a small intermission as there usually is and I started chatting with a guy named Liam who showed me this website (not sponsored by the way) called setlist.fm which had accurately showed me the set list. I wonder how the artist would feel about this, maybe they would consider this as harmful as a song leak but to me since it’s not and can in most cases be assembled by fans at the show I don’t see the ethical issue at all and will certaintly be using this resource going forward, big shout out to you this was so clutch and I wonder who the leak was because this was 100% correct.
Finally Poppy came on her stage design was much more minimal, but the show was full of energy, and even the occasional shriek which I did not get that on film once unfortunatly. I am a huge fan of her music I got sucked into the story thru a Shane Dawson video and ended up checking the music out of curiosity and was pleasantly surprised and have been listing to her ever since. I like the contrast of soft alternative rock and heavy metal in the same song and the more provactive electronic tracks as well, for those unintiated her sound is interesting and unique and some of the lyrics are really potent as well. If you are a fan of rock or electro you may be a fan of Poppy as well. Side note: Drummer and guitarist for Poppy were really talented, by my count the drummer had a 12 piece drum set and the guitarist was really showing his class, I kept a close eye on him as I am a novice guitar player and like to see the chords or finger placement to try to replicate later.
Some dude crowd surfing during the poppy show
Overall the Ogden theatre was a surprise gem of a venue, with effort in stage design, good views anywhere and by my count at least 3 bars which helps keeps the wait time reasonable, for the price of the ticket you can tell they did a good job in returning that value to the concert goer. Poppy was exactly what I expected, a good performer, cutting edge, and exciting. Packing in 17 songs in about 75 minutes. Another absolute banger of a concert.
Scary mask – Concrete – Poppy with me doing background vocals lol
I was not selected and I was not shocked, the quality of my drawing is horrendously bad compared to succesful submissions and I think it’s hard to see my intention in the comic.
I called it zoom, it shows a suicidal man who is walking, spots a truck and thinks of laying in front of the passing car to commit suicide but he decides to not and instead let the car pass by. I wanted to convey that even when things are feeling shitty its better to be alive than dead and these bad feelings will “zoom” by and soon enough you’ll be back to your happy self.
Don’t blame you if you didn’t get that when you saw this.
