Review of the new KFC wraps

Today I decided to treat myself for the new KFC wrap. I was able to get a combo meal for under 10$ which comes with 2 wraps and a drink and side. I had the original and spicy cole slaw. There was a mac and cheese option also but I dont really like mac and cheese. I liked the spicy cole slow more. The original was trying to be like a traditional chicken sandwich and I like pickles don’t get me wrong but was not prepared to see them in a wrap. My only complaint is that the wrap was sloppy and I made a bit a mess eating it. I blame this to the wrapping of the sauce and general care of the employee. Nothing I couldn’t fix with tide to go and the provided napkins. I have longed ago ditched KFC for better options and to be honest I was not surprised to learn they recently dropped from #2 to #3 in the US rankings of chicken themed fast food restaurants (1. CFA 2.) Popeyes). Both have lost market share to CFA who is growing year over year like a real monster, I personally think they are are a great buisness and are very far ahead of competion and represent a gold stardard in the industry. However the market share lost by KFC was enough to lose it’s seat as #2. KFC has been trying to adapt by adding a chicken sandwich, and even more recently nuggets, and now the wrap. I have tried them all now and while all good I still think they are not as good compared to what the other chains are providing. Although to my knowledge KFC is the only chain offering a wrap.

Overall I was inspired to try these as I am very nostalgic for the chicken snack wraps. The words “2 crispy chicken snack wraps and a large fry” was my default order for all 4 years of highschool. I have had this meal a lot and despite seeing others try no one’s been able to recreate something quite like the legendary McDonalds snack wrap. KFC was close but not quite as good but I could still see my self ordering it again.
